Vellum / parchment - 20 × 12 cm.
This 16th-century leaf is from a Latin prayer book that was printed by Thielman Kerver in France in 1508.
Before 1497 books of hours were written by hand; this leaf is from a printed book.
This is a leaf on vellum (thin parchment - animal skin) with beautiful hand-decorated initials and a fine border with flowers and leaves. This is an original unique piece from the 16th century.
Condition: although more than 500 years old, the leaf is still in fair to good condition; the parchment is slightly tanned and has brown spots. Elements that determine the value: its rarity, quality, age and attractiveness. This is a masterpiece in any serious collection.
