Mainline History: The Series D is an electric locomotive of the Swedish State Railways, Statens Järnvägar (SJ), and were built as from 1925 for the Bergslagernas Järnvägar and the Dalslands Jarnvag. These locomotives were produced during the period 1925-1943. The 134 locomotives D(I) that were delivered between 1925 and 1933 all had a wooden body. After 1933 they changed the design to locomotives with a steel body which were then referred to as type D(II). Between 1967 and 1988 the locomotives of the series type D were replaced by the locomotives of the series Rc.
