Ancient bronze casting
A beautiful bronze plaque, posthumous work, dating back to the 20th century. A reproduction of the famous fresco by Guido Reni in the Casino dell'Aurora of Palazzo Pallavicini Rospigliosi in Rome.
On the back: hanging ring and initials 'P Ω >> R'
The fresco of the Aurora, painted by Guido Reni between 1613 and 1614, became one of the most famous and copied works in the history of art, never failing in this fame in about five hundred years.
Reni imagined Sun, raising from the sea, preceded by Aurora (Dawn), hovering in the air spreading flowers; the putto next to her is Phosphorus, the first star of the morning. The chariot of Febo follows, pulled by four fiery horses with different coloured coats to indicate the different degrees of light that precede the appearance of the Sun; in the quadriga, surrounded by the "hours", sits Apollo.
