Julius Streicher (* 12th February, 1885, in Fleinhausen near Augsburg - ; † 16th October, 1946, in Nuremberg) was a German National Socialist publicist and politician. From 1925, Streicher was the NSDAP Gauleiter (district leader) of Middle Franconia (later renamed Gau Franconia). He was the founder, owner and publisher of the vulgar, anti-Semitic, hatred-inciting newspaper ‘Der Stürmer’. The publishing house was owned by Streicher until the end of the war and made him a multi-millionaire. In 1933, Streicher was also the editor of the Nuremberg NS party organ the ‘Fränkische Tageszeitung’. He lost all party offices in 1940 on corruption charges related to Aryanisation. Streicher was one of the 24 accused at the Major War Criminals’ Trial tried by the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg. He was sentenced to death and hanged for crimes against humanity in 1946.
