Born in 1934 in Kunming, China, CHEN Dehong studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He received a scholarship to study in Paris in 1982 at the Beaux-Arts, before settling there permanently. CHEN Dehong's painting has its roots in Chinese calligraphy, but by mixing it with painting in a very personal way, it creates a new expression to express his vision as an artist. Chen Dehong has often exhibited in France, Germany, England, Holland, Hong Kong and United States. He has illustrated several books in collaboration with Pierre Aronéanu: L'Empereur et l'Immortel, La Grande Muraille des caractères. Author in 2004 of “La Calligraphie chinoise.”
