This Limited Edition whiskey celebrates the Macallans spectrum of natural colors that inspired the world-famous Pantone Color Institute to create a unique and beautifully complex shade of purple.
The Macallan Edition No.5 examines the role of exceptional oak barrels in creating the natural color of our whiskey. Every color, from the lightest oak to the deepest mahogany, throughout the Macallan portfolio is naturally derived from the interaction of the whiskey with the oak barrels in which it has matured. The process is carefully managed by our highly skilled whiskey team, which selects different barrels to create both the taste and the color for each expression.
To celebrate the remarkable spectrum of natural colors in our expressions, The Macallan collaborated with the Pantone Color Institute. After getting acquainted with the intricacies of the whiskey production process from acorn to glass, the illustrious color consultancy was inspired by the many tones that together create the rich color of our single malt. Such complexity can only be articulated by a color that is equally versatile. The result is a unique and bold purple hue developed exclusively by Pantone to represent edition no.5, which reflects the infinite hues and mastery that determine the natural color of The Macallan.
