1860's 3 piece roast meat carving set in its original brown leather case lined with satin and velvet. The set comprises a carving knife, fork and sharpening steel. The handles are made of bone and trimmed with ornate silver plated mounts chased in high-relief with a floral design. The tines and blade are made from Toledo steel. Knife - 38 cm Fork - 28.5 cm Sharpening steel - 34.5 cm Made by George Butler & Co, Sheffield. Good antique condition. Wear to steel commensurate with age; the fork handle has a 5 cm crack; the sharpening steel has a crack all along the handle; the knife has 2 tiny cracks (under 0.5 cm).
