"Vases of Pascal". The so-called hydrostatic paradox.
To demonstrate the principle that the pressure in liquid is determined by the height of the liquid column and the diameter of the bottom of the barrel. So regardless of the shape of the glass barrel, the pressure at the bottom is the same.
It is called a paradox, because at first glance you would swear that the pressure in the larger barrel would be greater because of its larger content.
The output of the barrel is closed by a round ring. The pressure on this can be varied with weights on the scale of the bascule. As soon as the pressure of the water exceeds the opposite pressure on the ring, water begins to leak. This turns out to happen at the same time regardless of the shape of the glasses. The height of the water is indicated by the (adjustable) hand.
This classic physics test is also present in the collection of Teylers museum and mentioned in Turner: "19th. Century Scientific Instruments”. Pp. 84. (see fig.).

Cast-iron foot. 
Dating: 1900-1920.
In good condition. Some small chips on the edge of 2 of the glasses.
