Karl Baedeker - Russia with Teheran, Port Arthur, and Peking. Handbook For Travellers. (A Facsimile of the 1914 Original Edition) - New York, Arno Press/Random House, 1971 - Lxiv + 590 pp. plus an unpaginated Appendix that includes 18 full & double-page maps. Introduction by Harrison E. Salisbury. Illustrated with 39 Maps and 78 plans including several fold-outs. Publisher's original boards. 15 x 22 cm.

Condition. Very good; It seems no to have been much consulted as it is fresh in every aspect . With an extra: a facsimile of the frontispice map from Baedeker's Russie of 1892.

Very telling description of the Russian state at the eve of WWI and the October Revolution. At that time the imperial state included countries as Finland, Poland, Ukraine and more currently independent states like the Baltic Republics.
"Perhaps best of all, Baedeker is not simply a guide to places, cities and memorable sights. It is an introduction to Russia and the Russians which to a startling degree holds valid today." (Harrison E. Salisbury)
Furthermore it describes excursions to destinations as Tehran (then capital of Persia), Port Arthur (then a Chinese but Japanese-conquered port leased temporarily to Russia, now called Lüshunkou District in China) and Peking (Beijing).

  • Very good package ,good description, but I mm needed to go to the post office to collect the book ,it would be better if it was delivered to my addresses .

    Response by seller
As far as I know, it's on your postal service, as I sent the book as a registered letter. In certain cases (that is, in my country) they do not deliver directly the parcels that weight more than 500g
In the general case I think the post person comes to the address and if they cannot deliver the letter against a signature, they leave a notice to the recipient to pick the book at the post office.
Anyway, I'm so sorry for the inconveniences.
