Alfred Moritz Italian Stradivarius Copy for Professional violinists.
A fine Vintage Italian Style Violin, German Copy of an Antonio Stradivari 4/4 late 19th century in the heart of Dresden.
From The Shop of Alfred Moritz
"Excelsior" Violin from Dresden, 1889
This antique "Excelsior" violin was built in 1889 in the workshop of Alfred Moritz in Dresden, the cultural capital of Saxony, after a successful crafted flat Stradivari Model. A label reads
"Copy of Antonius Stradivarius fecet in Dresdae 1889". The Violin was made of select fine tone woods by an experienced violin maker: Broadly flamed maple was used to craft the two-piece back, the neck demonstrates an individual style with unmistakable character. Recently and professionally re-bushed set with new ebony pegs to no degradation to the originally delicately carved scroll of fine maple matching the sides and aforementioned back. Golden-brown varnish with beautiful patina completes the antique appearance of this vintage fiddle over 130 years old this year!
Moritz operated a top factory by employing highly skilled workers to make his violins in an Excelsior violin, which was extremely popular in England at the turn of the century. It is a Conservatory grade violin, as evident by the now fading stamp on the back.
The tone is warm; smooth and open, with nice clarity form all strings. It has some repairs done since its inception which I can assure has done nothing to degrade the quality of this fantastic instrument and collectors item. Includes Pirastro Tonica and fully set up for play.
No open seams or open cracks all are stable and holding to my knowledge. No bow or case included. This will make a fine instrument for an aspiring violinist, or collector as an addition to their historical collection. Thank you for looking happy bidding.
