The Life and Explorations of David Livingstone, LL.D. The African Traveller and Missionary. Carefully Compiled From Reliable Sources
The book details the life & explorations of Livingstone and has a number of beautiful coloured plates illustrating his tale. Whilst this period of exploration by white Europeans may be viewed by contemporary readers through a post-imperial lens, at the time of publishing, this book portrayed Livingstone as a hero.
Large volume. Beautifully illustrated with colour frontispiece, coloured title page, and 10 full-page colour chromolithographs. Published by Walter Scott, London, ca.1887. The book (Thick Folio) is beautifully bound in red cloth bevelled boards with black decorations. Gilt lettering and gilt vignette of Livingstone on front board and to spine. Embossed crest to rear board. All page edges gilt.
Book Dimensions: 27.5 x 21.5 x 4cm & Number of Pages: 632.
A magnificent publication weighing 1.8 kilograms.
Solid and firm binding. A few marks, wear and bumps to spine ends, and boards’ corners. Binding is firmly held. Inside is actually in very good condition. No writing or inscription. A prize plate inside front cover. Light tanning and foxing to endpapers and some pages. The book contains 12 leaves of plate; all in very good condition and mostly clean aside from the odd handling mark to the margin. All pages are tightly held at the gutter and edged in gilt. Inner hinges are very good. A book beautifully bound, designed and illustrated (Please see pictures).

very quick delivery and very well packed.
Books arrived in perfect condition, well protected. Fast handling and delivery ! Thanks !
thank you, all good! I didn't have to pay additional customs taxes as from other sellers from France and Netherlands!
Book arrived quickly and well packaged BUT fold-out coloured map is missing despite this being in the 'item description'. I feel seller has been misleading by not saying this and am annoyed!I can't understand why you are annoyed?
I really have no idea about any fold-out map within the books. I have only mentioned in the 'item description' (coloured map, showing the region of his labours) and this map is existed in the book. This is an excellent item, and no need for me to mislead any buyer.
Excellent envoi, de beaux ouvrages.
Je suis ravi.
