After the "icosahedra" - C12 atom, I've created a "Cuboctahedron", where each of the 12 brushed stainless steel spheres is symmetrically surrounded by four other spheres. The height is 65 cm, the diameter 72 cm.
The geometrical structure of this cuboctahedron can, for example, be found in a fluorite mineral or the magnetic field around the earth. The unique thing about this shape is that the distance between the spheres and the core is the same. That means that a 13th, identical sphere fits exactly inside. The structure can also be seen as 4 rings of 6 spheres, symmetrically placed.
The light object has a 12 Watt warm white LED wreath at the top of the interior space, which makes sure that the light doesn't shine directly in your eyes. The minimum price is €550. The object will be numbered and signed. I expect that 8 of these can be made. Also check out the other design auction at Catawiki.
