Karl Paul Uhlig - Borstendorf Schachbrett Fabrik - Chess pieces in a wooden box (33) - Bone

Chess pieces Karl Paul Uhlig from ca. 1900 - at the height of this important Borstendorf factory in the Erzgebirge. The height of the king is 74 mm, white almost ivory-like beef bone. Staunton-style with particularly beautiful horses and a special crown on the kings. The 32 pieces are made by hand by German craftsmen in the late nineteenth century, they have been preserved in very good condition. Only a few pawns have wear on the felt. This version in black/white is rare, often they are seen in red/white. The black pieces are also made of bone but coloured. The box has an original label on the underside and a price sticker from De Bijenkorf. The lock doesn’t work.
