Interesting vase with floral decor designed by the renowned Jean Claude Malarmey and made by Vallauris. The vase is from ca. 1960 and has a decor of (likely) tulips.
The last years the interest for work by Jean Claude Malarmey has been growing.
Jean-Claude Malarmey was a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Reims. he moved to Vallauris, according to sources, in 1953 or 1954. there he founded in the studio of Jean Rivier, together with his friends and classmates Robert and Dominique Baudart Perot, the studio du Vieux Moulin (1957). Roger Collet often visited him as a turner and realised many of his pieces, that were subsequently decorated by Malarmey. Malarmey was one of the first potters that worked with La Bergerie. He took part in the first Biennale. (translated from French, La Bergerie Ceramique).
