Symmetrical umbrella rack in cast iron with beautiful patina. In the design are many natural elements. Marked: N. Martin A. Huy N. 1532. History of iron foundry N. Martin in Huy in Belgium. In 1840, the Martin family established themselves in Huy and opened a small copper foundry along the Hoyoux. Three Martin brothers were employed in this company: (Alphonse, Hubert-Joseph and Nestor). Nestor Martin opened a new foundry in 1854, this time iron. He specializes in iron casting and produced a.o. charcoal bins, umbrella racks, cross and mourning fittings, stove fittings, etc. Nestor Martin harvested many great prizes and awards at industrial fairs and exhibitions around the turn of the century and had a catalogue of products of great variety before the outbreak of the First World War. Since 1890 he also accompanied the artistic movement of Art Nouveau, where he transformed domestic objects into real works of art. Nestor Martin died in 1916. In 1925, 2 foundries were established: SA Nestor Martin in Belgium (where this umbrella rack was cast around the year 1930) and SA Arthur Martin in France. At the end of the 1930s, the Martin group has a number of factories throughout the world. After 125 years of existence, the group is bought and integrated by the multinational Electrolux. This lot has been carefully cleaned and will be packaged with great care and shipped by insured and registered mail with Track and Trace. Collection from us in Ridderkerk In South Holland province is of course also possible.
