A set of French Antique playing cards. The deck is a 32 card Deck or Piquet Deck. The original owner had lost 2 cards and made replacements. The ace of clubs has been modified with a simple change but the real winner is a 5 of clubs from a matching 52 card deck has been converted into the Jack, complete with a hand drawn portrait. This deck was obviously a favourite and it shows. A great quirky addition to any collection. The Portraits are classical design each face card is marked with a historical figure, the king of Diamonds represents 'Julius Cesar'. The reverse a blue patterned field. A nice deck of old cards at least 120 years old. Each card measures approx. 8.5 cms x 5.5 cms.
