The atom model from 1990 is apparently truly timeless and thus the demand for this hand-made light object keeps on returning. I have been able to obtain stainless steel material in order to make several more pieces of 70 cm. The minimum offer has been set for €600.
The geometrical light object consists of 12 brushed spheres of stainless steel 316. Through constructive steps using various moulds, the spheres are connected strictly symmetrically into a strong shell. And this is where we find the rub in this work of art: if just one sphere isn't exactly in the right place, then the rest will not fit either. A replaceable LED lamp was fitted in the inner space that was created. The infinite reflections of light on the stainless steel material create a fascinating glow. Each sphere is in the same position in relation to the other spheres from every angle, and each brushed structure is aimed towards the centre. Each copy is signed and numbered.
Dear design enthusiasts,
The plots that I offer as an artist on Catawiki are geometric light objects, constructed from brushed stainless steel spheres of different diameters, so that the objects have different sizes and are suitable for the small to large living room or for large spaces such as offices, entrances, waiting and reception areas . Each ball is placed in the correct position with the utmost precision, otherwise the other balls will no longer fit. For this I first produced accurate molds and tools. The objects have an all-round symmetrical unity and at the same time we see the play of the spheres relative to each other. This is enhanced by illuminating the object from the inside, whereby the light on the stainless steel surface is infinitely reflected and a golden-yellow glow is created. With photos this can only be expressed in part and everyone who comes to collect the auctioned object is surprised by the actual appearance.
Each object is numbered and signed and by means of model registration you are assured that it is the original work of the artist.
The tight geometry has always had my passion and is perhaps a result of my Libra zodiac sign. In addition, I am a techie and 3D Cad engineer, with whom these structures could come about.
