Beautiful wooden cabinet with complete, flawless set of 24 numbered gapers (miniatures). Including matching cards on which each gaper is described. The book 'Slang, Esculaap en Gaper, medisch farmaceutische symbolen” (159 pages) with many colour photographs.
A gaper served as advertising for pharmacists, to attract customers, but also as quality indication for the store.
The mouth of the gaper, however, is not open for yawning, but to take medication. The grimace of many gapers is because the medicine tastes bad. These are small copies of those old gapers.
The cabinet is made of beautiful lacquered wood. From 1 gaper (with white hat with orange rim), it looks like there's a crack, but it is made like that. It has a few slight traces of wear, otherwise it is in very good condition.
Dimensions cabinet: height 60, width 39, depth 8 cm.

The object was delivered in perfect condition. It was described as made of bronze but I believe it is zamak from other descriptions I’ve read. I am happy with the piece :)
