Paul Hermans ( 1898-1972) - Impressionistisch zomers landschap met 2 hooioppers en huizen

Paul Hermans. Belgian painter born in Hasselt in 1898 and died there in 1972. Educated since 1912 at the academy in Hasselt led by Lucien Nolens and after the First World War at the royal academy of fine arts in Brussels led by C. Montald, among others. Completed his training in Italy and stayed in Paris on a regular basis. During his stay in the Netherlands in 1925, he discovered Breitner's work and started working in his style and colour use. Was influenced in 1930-1935 by powerful ‘Vlasne’ expressionism but quickly returned to his original more impressionist method of painting. Preferably painted landscapes and figures. Beautiful ‘Vlasns’ summer landscape painted with Breitner-like influences around 1930. The biography about Paul Hermans, published in 1998 by the Stedelijk Museum Stellingwerff-Waardenhof in Hasselt, is included.
