Beautifully signed work by well-known painter of Indonesian landscapes Cornelis Robrecht Artur Eland.
Arthur Eland and his twin brother Leo were born in Salatiga in the Dutch East Indies in Central Java in 1884.
His brother Leo, who was also an artist, died in 1952. Arthur Eland was a master of painting romantic and true-to-life landscapes (in the Dutch East Indies).
This way of painting was hugely popular among the Dutch who lived in Indonesia.
Oil on canvas, dimensions 40 x 60 cm.
Is in a heavy antique frame. Including the frame the dimensions are 55 cm x 75 cm.
Condition of painting: in very good, original condition without restorations or craquelure.
Signed on the bottom left: A. Eland. He died on 17 December 1948 in 's Gravenhage, age 64.
