Sword of an officer of the British Royal Navy, George V / WW2, FM Duthie.
A rare example of engraved sword with the effigy of George V
(most of them simply have the British royal coat of arms).
This sword was supplied to commander FM Duthie, RN,
who worked during WW2.
The sword is marked with “Gieves”, so it is a Wilkinson.
The thin blade measures 79.5 cm, it is well engraved and in excellent condition despite its age.
Firm blade in the hilt. The latter kept its gilding very well over time.
The ray skin handle and the filigree are in excellent condition.
The sword knot is original with signs of ageing, but in overall very good condition. Beautiful original leather scabbard with brass accessories.
The folding protection section is placed on the fastening pin of the scabbard.
The bag and the belts are black with cracks on the surface due to ageing, closing strap, small tear on the cap but in overall good condition.
A beautiful historic heirloom, complete with accessories and information about the officer it belonged to, very rare in this condition. A piece for true collectors.
Size: overall length with scabbard 95 cm.
Overall length without scabbard: 94 cm.
Blade length: 79.5 cm.
Please look carefully at the 50 uploaded photos because they are an integral part of the description.
I included the images of the copy of the research done on the “National Library of Scotland” register, where you can read the name of commander FM DUTHIE.

Please note: some elements on this page have been translated automatically.Il parure è carino, peccato che al centro di una delle federe il ricamo color crema presenta in 5 posti filo di marrone scuro a macchie. Nn segnalate.visto il prezzo..nn è correttoPlease note: some elements on this page have been translated automatically.il set è nuovo le macchie sono dovute alla conservazione. Basta portarlo in lavanderia prima di utilizzarlo come è normale che sia, inoltre il prezzo è al di sotto del suo valore reale.
