H. Hammond was an author of many works comprised of sermons and tracts but was also known to frequently publish the discoveries associated with trials of witchcraft. This volume contains two works in one: 'A Practical Catechisme' which was expanded to include 'Reasonableness of Christian Religion'.

The first being a Socratic dialogue between a Scholar and a Catechist that acts as a manual to understand the various principles, mysteries, and sacraments associated with the Christian religion in the form of questions and answers, used for the instruction of the reader. It also delves into a variety of explanations of etymologies of Hebrew and Greek to answer the most complex questions of hidden meaning and context within the scriptures that may have been lost in their translation into the English language.

The second work depicts reflections upon the underline principles laid out in the first, to utilize reason in deciding upon the controversies of religion. It explains also the power of the Affections and Intercepts of faith, applies principles of philosophy, and even touches upon the perspectives of the Talmudist and the Gnostic.

This volume is in good condition. The binding is secure with the boards and pages all firmly attached. There is minor cracking at the spine of the boards, but both are firmly attached. There are no missing pages and end papers are present. The front and back covers contain some scuff marks.
