SWOON, aka Caledonia Curry, was born in New London, Connecticut in 1977 and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. A graduate of the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn (1998-2001), she lives and works in Brooklyn. Originally known for her collages on the streets of New York (and beyond), she specializes in the engraving of life-size and even monumental portraits, and complex installations of cut-out paper. Beyond this formal aspect, she proposes a committed and humanistic vision of the world around her through the portrait of the people she meets and the cities she visits during her projects.
