The Bwami society represents the path through which LEGA men and women try to reach moral excellence, beauty, wisdom and prestige. Organised in five stages, or levels, for men, and three for women, the Bwami is a society of volunteers that is open to all the members of the community. It accompanies and supervises a person throughout his life.
As the LEGA say: “something that sticks, leaves a trace”. Most men and women enter this society as novices, but only a few reach the kindi, the highest level.
