The Himalaya model was the result of a discussion between Fred Lip, a fan of the mountains, and his friend Lionnel Terray, mountain climbing guide. Fred Lip wanted to give this piece an image of efficiency and durability. Produced in 1954, it was a reference for LIP up to 1973. In 1959, many fans of mountaineering wore it during their expeditions and contributed to its success. This was especially the case for Maurice Herzog, another friend of Fred Lip, who was the first mountaineer to climb the Annapurna (one summit of the Himalayas of more than 8000m) with his Himalaya watch on his wrist. Equipped with an R25 calibre, hand-wind mechanical movement that works perfectly. Its case is in 40 microns plated gold measuring 33 mm without crown, steel screw back with a dedication, 'Dernières Nouvelles de Strasbourg', to Mr. Haegel, chief bookbinder, for his 20 years of loyal service to the newspaper. Its two-tone champagne-coloured case has a beautiful patina, numeral index, beautiful gold hands, second hand at 6:00, new crystal that has no flaws, new leather strap, a length of 18 cm without the buckle.
