Katana (刀) is the Japanese word for ' sword '. The katana or Daito (long sword), belonged together with the wakizashi (short sword), and the tanto (knife) to the permanent armour of the samurai in Japan. In the Western world the katana is best known as the Samurai sword.
The scabbard is finished with a black lacquer and a ribbon trim. All three blades are made of metal with knurled pattern. The tsuba (separates the handle from the blade and prevents the sword slipping through the hand) is magnificently decorated. The wooden stand is finished in black lacquer. Heavy wooden set.
