Roger Feraud - vintage coat rack
Roger Feraud
French furniture designer. He was an innovative designer who made use of the latest materials of the time, such as chromed metal and steel pipes, which is reflected in some of his works. Feraud worked with the French production company Cromos, which brought to life many of his designs.
When the American chemist Linus Carl Pauling gave shape to DNA in 1951 as a string spheres and rods, designer Roger Feraud found this a fascinating and very inspiring experience.
From this experience, he designed a series of coat hangers with black, solid steel frame, decorated with his typical painted solid wood balls.
The ‘Hang it all’ by Charles & Ray Eames in 1953 was based on these designs by Roger Feraud.
