Kork wool, silk.
The wool found around the lamb's neck is called 'kork wool' and is used to make particularly thin and precious carpets.
These TABRIZ carpets are made in workshops in the city of Tabriz, in the north-west of Iran. The pile of a good Tabriz is short and rigid. The decoration can consist of a centre medallion surrounded by arabesques, weeping willows and cypresses. The four seasons, which describe the life of a Persian peasant during spring, summer, autumn and winter, are another popular pattern.
Imported in the 80s.
In mint condition.
