This is a vintage, minature, Japanese statue of Buddhist Guardian, Acala (Fudomyo-oh), which was made by the 1st class artisan, Shuun Makita 牧田秀雲 (1917-) about 30 years ago ( 1980s approximately) complete with its own minature Altar in gold gilt, laquer, and wood.
The Acala is made of alloyed-copper. The figure is coated with a white coating as part of the design. The signature of the artisan is carved on the back of the flame manora.
Shuun was born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1917, and studied buddhist sculpture with Mochizuki Hideaki in Yokohama. He is best known for his images of Buddhism and Shinto figures. He notably designed the bell tower and the sculptures for a religious community in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1953.
