Good overall condition. Very small tears to the crowns
2 folio volumes in speckled calf, blind stamped frame, first edition recognizable because of the 8 raised bands of the edge, compartments adorned with small stamp, label and volume number in brown red and green, speckled edges, roulettes on cuts, binding of the time. Dillenius (1684-1747), English botanist of German origin. In 1721 he moved to the United Kingdom, in 1732 he published Hortus Elthamensis, this catalogue of rare species in the area of Eltham near London. He made himself the 324 plates (+ 206). The quality of the book is praised by Carl Von Linné. In 1734, Dillen became Professor of botany at Oxford
