Man Ray (Philadelphia 27 August 1890 -Paris, 18 November 1976) was a Jewish-American Dadaist and surrealist photographer and film director. While he lived with his friend Marcel Duchamp in New York, he founded the American branch of the Dada movement. In 1921, he moved to Paris where he lead a revolution in the field of photography for the next 20 years. With the likes of Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso, he was represented in the first surrealist exhibition at the Galerie Pierre in Paris (1925).
