Coat owned and donated by Her Highness Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi for the ‘Jeans for Refugees’ collection - unique hand-painted artwork by Johny Dar
Johny Dar: "I felt her full heart in the creation of her coat... and I feel when someone is walking a path at one with their heart, that their path naturally becomes golden. She is carrying the refugee matter in her heart, weaving the golden thread around it like a mother would hug her child. It's the gold that money just can not buy- as we can only receive this gold from a full hearted gift. Thank you for all your gifts that you are giving the world."
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an exclusive piece of wearable art, that will no doubt be the envy of anyone who sets their eyes on it. Keep it for A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an exclusive piece of wearable art, that will no doubt be the envy of anyone who sets their eyes on it. Keep it for yourself or proudly display it for others to covet. Each pair of jeans has been embellished using a special 3D paint, making these sought after art pieces wonderfully wearable. Johny Dar’s intricate, hand-painted artworks seek to reflect the individual personality of each donor, by paying tribute to their unique characters through artistic expression. 'Jeans for Refugees' is a Johny Dar project and artistic fundraising initiative dedicated to helping refugees from around the world, with all proceeds going to the International Rescue Committee. Our support is needed more than ever. There are 65 million people displaced in the world. They are suffering immense trauma, and women and children are often the worst affected: an estimated one in five displaced and refugee women has been subjected to sexual violence. On average, it is 17 years before refugees and internally displaced people are able to return home. The conflicts that force them to flee burn on for an average of 37 years.
Your generosity in bidding on one of the hand-painted celebrity jeans will enable the IRC (we are donating auction proceeds to the IRC and raising awareness of the refugee situation through Jeans for Refugees) to step up its programs around the world, with a particular focus on support for displaced women and children.
The IRC works in 40 countries – some of which make the headlines, like Syria, and many of which rarely make the news. Yemen, Nigeria, Somalia, Pakistan, Burundi. Sub-Saharan Africa is host to the largest numbers of refugees globally. 50% of the profits from Jeans for Refugees will support our Middle East and Europe Refugee Crisis Appeal. The other 50% will support crises elsewhere in the world, our Hidden Crises Fund. We would like to invite everyone to participate - in whatever way you can - to help spread the word, share the JFR message, or bid for the Jeans For Refugees. A retweet, a like, a share, a shout out, a bid, or simply gathering some friends to come check out the exhibit - each contribution can help make a difference where it counts… Photo credit http://tom-seelbach.com
