Description: Rare Ancient Roman bronze brooch shaped as a Pelta shield. According to the Ancient Greek writers this particular type of shield was used by the Amazonian warriors. Later the shape was adopted by the Romans as decorative element. 
Material:  Bronze / Nice Green Patina
Condition: Very Fine  / Restored pin / see photos
Date: Roman -  2nd – 3rd century A.D.
Size:  35 mm; weight 9 grams
