No. 9116113
German TOTENKOPF Leib Husaren hat, veterans copy, 1930s
German Leib-Husaren "Schirmmütze" for officer of Regiment No. 1.
Also known as the "Totenkopf-Husaren", there the 1st and 2nd Regiment had a big skull on the fur hat (or busby).
Hence this symbol was also worn on the hat.
Well known is the fact that the crown prince (eldest son of Kaiser Wilhelm) always wore such a hat of this regiment.
Even at the front.
This pet, however is a creation for veterans of LH1, from the 1930s and is heavily worn and restored (see photos).
Made of cotton with a red velvet band and with cocades in officers’ edition (above the national cockade and below the Prussian Cockade) with the skull in the middle.
Special is the "dandy-like" leather valve without edge.
I think later (after 1950) the inside edge was also replaced by a plastic copy ...
Despite the few small defects a very desirable piece, of which an edition from 14-18 is virtually impossible to find/priceless.
Will be shipped as insured parcel of course.
