The Mitsubishi FTO is a 'front engined', 'front-wheel drive' coupe, produced by Mitsubishi between 1994 and 2000. The FTO was originally only intended for the Japanese domestic market, however due to grey import this model was also sold a lot in the UK, New Zealand, and Ireland. This lead the official Mitsubishi distributors to also sell a limited amount of FTO’s in these countries. In 1994, the FTO won the ‘car of the year’ award in Japan.

FTO stands for "Fresh Touring Origination", this refers to the Galant FTO coupé (1971), one of the first Mitsubishi sports cars.
