The original ship was a seaworthy cargo ship. these ships were built especially in Groningen. They were used in the peat colonies and also elsewhere for transport of agricultural products, sand and gravel and muck in the autumn from the North to the West, especially the bulb region. The so called Crap race. The ship has large swords which can be taken up and down for better stability and directional stability. It has a large folding mast And a large front sail. A slightly curved clevis. The sails are brown; soaked in a tar like substance. This to extend the life. At the rear the living space for the skippers family and the Steering cockpit with long helm stick. The large cargo space with wooden manholes. These ships still each year take part in the Frisian skûtsjesilen. This wooden model of this traditional Dutch cargo ship from the 18th and 19th centuries is a pleasure to own.
