Middle of the 20th century - Average condition
Figurine of 410 mm high, 640 grams, brought back in the fifties by a French national. Acquired in a Gallery.
Figurine carved in one piece of wood, besides the ears which were added. Wood with a black patina with mineral and granular traces on the inside of the legs. The body and the headdress are covered with rigid skin, fragmented because of its antiquity. Remains of heterogeneous matter in the bilongo (abdominal cavity), the matter was glued in because of its instability.
The face was finely scarified with parallel ridges.
This is probably a feminine figure because of its labret under the chin.
Because of its antiquity, there are some cracks on the wood which do not spoil the initial form of the object and its presence.
Authentic, very typical TÉKÉ figurine.
