If you’re in the EU, you only need to pay customs fees if the seller is shipping from:
- Outside of the EU.
- Or an EU territory with special tax rules, e.g. Channel Islands, Canary Islands, Vatican City State.
Find out more about rules and procedures for EU buyers.
If you’re outside the EU or are in an EU territory with special tax rules, you’ll usually need to pay customs fees if the seller is shipping from a different country. We recommend checking with tax authorities for more details.
You don't need to pay customs for domestic shipping.
You can find out where an object will be shipped from on the object page.
When are customs fees charged?
Customs fees are usually charged when the order arrives in your country. As the buyer, you’ll need to pay all customs fees and charges for your order. The order will only be delivered to you once you've paid these fees.
What happens if you don't pay customs fees?
If you don't pay the customs fees, your order will be returned to the seller. If the seller agrees to ship the order back to you, you'll need to pay for shipping again and for the customs fees. This includes customs fees for the return to the seller’s country.
To keep things fair for sellers and other interested bidders, you can't cancel an order because you don't want to pay customs fees.
Keep in mind, we have no control over customs fees - they're controlled by customs authorities. If you have any questions, we recommend contacting your local postal service or customs authorities.
What if delivery is delayed?
Orders that go through customs tend to take longer. If it’s 5 days after the estimated delivery date shown on the order page and your order hasn’t been delivered, we’ll send you an email or notification.
At this point, it’s important to let us know the order hasn’t been delivered so we can pause the payment to the seller and investigate.
