When you pay by credit card, you may see an extra verification step because of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) regulations.
Why this happens
Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) has applied to online credit card payments in Europe since 14 September 2019.
It requires 2 of these 3 factors:
- Something you know, like a password or code
- Something you own, like your phone or another device
- Something you are, like a biometric check
Example
You may be asked to enter a password and a code sent to your phone.
If you have trouble verifying your payment
If you have trouble receiving a code or password, contact your bank.
