Shipping & Pick up
When and how do I need to declare customs?

If you’re selling from the EU, you only need to declare customs if you’re shipping an order to a buyer who is:

If you’re selling from outside the EU or from an EU territory with special tax rules, you’ll usually need to declare customs if you’re shipping internationally. We recommend checking with tax authorities or the shipping company for more details.

Customs with manual shipping

If you’re using manual shipping, you’ll need to check what customs forms are required with tax authorities or with the shipping company you’re using. They should be able to give you instructions on how to add this customs info and ship the order.

Keep in mind that you are responsible for the customs process with manual shipping and for making sure that all info in the forms and shipping label is correct. We recommend you message the buyer from the order page to confirm their address before you ship the order.

It’s also very important that you declare the object’s value accurately to avoid having it returned to you or confiscated.

During the shipping process, customs authorities might need extra info from you so keep an eye on your email inbox (including the spam folder). If you don’t provide info customs authorities ask for, your package will likely be returned to you.

We recommend staying in contact with the buyer throughout the shipping process by messaging them from the order page.

Customs with smart shipping

With smart shipping, we make shipping internationally easier by guiding you through adding customs info. We then create customs forms which you can print, put in a plastic or documents enclosed envelope, and tape to the package.

In some cases, we can digitally connect the customs info directly to the shipping label through a scannable code. In these cases, you only need to print the shipping label, not the customs forms. We’ll let you know when this is the case.
