What you need to know about selling a vehicle in our auctions.
When a vehicle doesn’t have its papers, it's possible to request a new document and later a new registration and number plates through Clubs or Associations (FMI, ASI).
- They will request a document of legit provenance (sale contract) and a declaration
- The vehicle needs to be inspected by their experts, who will perform a technical inspection
- With both the above documents, it's possible to file a request to the Club or Association
Once the Catawiki auction is closed and a buyer has placed the top bid for the vehicle, as the current owner you’re required to ensure that the vehicle is deregistered and the license plates are returned to the authorities responsible for motor vehicles.
As a seller you will need to provide some form of proof of sale, so that the buyer can use it to register the vehicle with their local authorities. If you are a professional seller, the easiest way to do this is to provide an invoice to the buyer. If you are a private seller, you can offer the buyer a Sales Contract in its stead.
The sales contract is a document that is intended to show as proof of ownership transfer of an object, and would be required in making the vehicle legal to drive on the road in the buyer's respective country. The details must include:
- Who is the seller
- Who is the buyer
- What is the sold object
- What is the selling price
- Date
- No commission on it
Please note that the selling price on the document will show the top bid for the vehicle. You can find an example of this type of document here.
Within the mobility category, it's possible for a buyer to make a request to view the vehicle being sold. This is highly encouraged as it fosters more trust and transparency between buyer and seller.
Criteria that needs to be met in order for a buyer to view a vehicle:
- The prospective buyer must have a Catawiki account
- The account must be fully verified
- There’s at least 48 hours left in the auction
Providing all of the above criteria are met, a buyer may forward a request, and we will provide your contact information to the buyer so they can contact you and make any necessary arrangements.
If a buyer makes this request, views the vehicle and eventually places the top bid in the auction, they are no longer able to make a cancellation request via the ‘Right of Withdrawal’ as explained in this article.
