Lot Submission & Evaluation
What should I include in the description?

A detailed and accurate description is very important so buyers can feel confident that the object they bid on matches their expectations.

Potential buyers come to Catawiki looking for special and rare vehicles, so our in-house experts select every piece for our auctions to ensure that they’re premium quality and are presented in the best possible way. We do this to keep our bidders excited, helping them find the pieces they’re interested in while ensuring that sellers have a great experience.

Currently we have several mandatory fields that need to be filled out in order to list a vehicle on our platform. The required vehicle information includes:

  • Valid MOT
  • Year
  • Documents
  • Mileage
  • Owners
  • Colour
  • Engine (capacity - horsepower)
  • General condition and maintenance
  • Condition of paint and bodywork
  • Condition of underbody
  • Issues/notes
  • Where the vehicle can be picked up from

Additionally, we strongly recommend that you write a professional and complete description of all features of the vehicle (paint and body, interior, frame/unibody, mechanics) and mention all issues (no paperwork, rust, work needed, etc.), including restoration work. In addition to this, any details about the history or special provenance of the vehicle is helpful for potential buyers.

Because we are primarily an online platform, clear and high resolution photographs are compulsory. Without them, it's likely that your submission will be rejected. To allow our experts and buyers to get an accurate impression of an object, we require at least 30 high-quality photos showing:

  • A 360 degree view of the vehicle, with a neutral background
  • The inside, outside and all sides of the vehicle
  • Close-ups of important details (stated in the next slide)
  • The engine and rear bonnet
  • The chassis/underbody
  • Any significant details, damages or repairs
  • Legible close-ups of documents and certifications

For a more comprehensive overview, we encourage you to review our Submission Guidelines.
