The Curta calculator was introduced 1948. It is small and has a crank to operate. It has a bright and compact design, it can be used for operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and with more difficulties, square roots and other operations. Curta was invented by Curt Herzstark while he was imprisoned in the Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp. He survived the camp and perfected the design being manufactured by the company, Contina AG Lid. Mauren in Liechtenstein and were considered as the best portable calculators available.
