Nuremberg box set with mythological scenes - Engraved iron - Late 16th century
Original iron casket, a Nuremberg production.
Dating back to the late 16th century.
The 4 sides and the lid are finely engraved by hand.
Each face shows a panel with the effigies of mythological characters
(Mars, Mercury etc...).
Oval top handle, riveted edges, spherical feet.
Lock with a heart-shaped plate, and engraved lily. Still in perfect working condition.
Original female key with drip head, absolutely typical of this type of production.
Beautiful object, important and original in all its parts,
collectible, still in very good overall condition.
