Thorvald HELLESEN (1888-1937) - Composition

Rare Cubist composition by the Norwegian painter Thorvald HELLESEN. Nice balance in shapes and colours. After studying at the national school for the arts in Oslo, he moved to Paris where he made the acquaintance of Pablo PICASSO and works with Fernand LEGER. He exhibited regularly at the salon of Independents in 1920 and participates in 1925 at the international exhibition ‘L’art d’aujourd’hui'. A similar, less elaborate, work was sold by Hampel (Germany) 08-04 -16, lot 1226, for 6,000 euros (EUR 7,500 with the buyer's fee!) Ink on paper 41 x 32 cm (approximately 54 x 45 cm with frame). Signed at the bottom right Dedication and signed with pencil. In excellent overall condition. AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED - Sold with an invoice issued by our gallery.
