J.M. Paillard brand school watercolour set. Almost complete. 1940s paint palette for school children used by one of my ancestors whose name can still be made out on the back. The J.M.P. company, created under the name LAMBERTYE, was taken over in 1850 and prospered in the manufacture of colour tablets for watercolour and later in other calligraphy and painting products. The inscription “J.M.P. couleurs sans danger” can be read and is in very good condition on the cover as well as some paint tablets. Some of the paint tablets have been used a lot, while others are in perfect condition. Box, brushes, and paints are present and in a condition corresponding to their age. Beautiful historical items.
