A gigantic Balinese Garuda carved in wood, painted in beautiful colours. The statue is no less than 83 centimetres in height and weighs 4.6 kilograms. The wings and tail are loose and can be taken off. The beak and tongue have been repaired. Dated: mid 70s from the 20th century. Garoeda or Garuda in Hindu Mythology is a mythical creature, half human, half eagle. He is the mount (vahana) of the god Vishnu. The Garoeda's are also a class of gods (or supernatural being) in Buddhism and Hinduism.
